I was so skeptical buying this last year for my husband but we have started traveling more and the ice in the cooler just sucked! I started looking at these electric coolers and finally decided on this one. We’ve been using it now for close to a year, and it hasn’t given any issues. I’m able to pack enough food cold or frozen for a whole extended weekend for the two of us. It fits 2 liters and lots of cans. It easily maintains 32°F even while staying in the hot car. It also has a lot of settings for temp and voltage so you can reserve your battery in the most efficient way. It has changed the way we road trip now!

Purchased the mini Frig/Freeze for traveling and to keep my lunch supplies cold. It worked well for the first week. Time will be the test, but so far, it is meeting expectations. The size is just right for my needs.

I’ve been using this fridge continuously since I got it a week or two ago. I use the 12V cord to power it with my power station and keep the fridge on ECO mode since I’m cautious about how much power it’s using. When using the 12V cord with the fridge in ECO mode, my power station shows it using about 35 watts when the compressor is running. When it’s not running, it uses a negligible amount of power, and my power station reads 0 watt output. It probably depends on how sensitive you are to noise, but I sleep with this fridge running right next to me while I sleep, and it doesn’t really bother me (powered by 12V). It is a noticeable sound, but it’s not unpleasant and akin to a purring noise. I have a small static thermometer that I keep in the fridge to make sure my food is staying in the safe temp range. I generally keep the fridge set between 32°F and 35°F and noticed today that my static thermometer inside the fridge was reading just above 20°F. There was also a thin layer of ice buildup on the inside wall of the fridge nearest to the compressor. While this isn’t particularly a bad thing, it could be a concern if you don’t want certain things being frozen. So far, none of my food on that side of the fridge has been freezing. AC: I am making another section of this review for running the fridge with AC power. When running the fridge with AC power, it was noticeably louder while the compressor is running. While the purring of the compressor with 12V doesn’t bother, the noise level with AC power was rather disturbing. Even keeping the fridge in ECO mode while using AC power, it was using quite a bit more power. I don’t have a lot of electrical knowledge, so I wasn’t expecting this. On AC power in ECO mode, it was using 50 watts compared to the about 35 watts with 12V power.

I like it. Only tested it so far to see how my car battery holds up. It doesn’t use a lot of energy, but I still probably want to get a solar panel since I am only using my 4Runner’s one battery (80Ah AGM). It arrived quickly, but Amazon left it standing up on its end. The box has a black stripe that says Fragile, Keep Upright, but nothing on the sides of the box where you would look for it. No biggie, I just let it sit upright for 6 hours before turning it on as the instructions say. This came preset to Fahrenheit, which is nice. The Alpicool C15 according to reviews comes preset to Celsius, and you have to get into the hidden settings to change it. So that is a plus over the Alpicool. It looks like it is made by Alpicool, but everything says AstroAI, including the cardboard box, and it was a few bucks cheaper. It is also a darker grey which I like better. The temperature display seems pretty accurate, more than I expected. I put a refrigerator thermostat inside, and it seemed to differ by only 1-2 degrees. That is a frequent complaint of reviews of the Alpicool, so I was expecting to have to adjust it in the hidden settings. So, that was another nice surprise. The voltage displayed reads low when the compressor is running but is close at idle. This could be a voltage drop due to the stock wiring to the rear plug in my SUV. But the low battery cutoffs seem to be set to work correctly with that voltage drop (10.1V is the cutout on Medium). Just don’t freak when you see the display reading 11.x volts, just check that against your actual battery voltage with a multimeter so you know how far off it is. Again, it may be my wiring, and I will do some more testing with connections closer to the battery. The fridge feels solid and good quality, especially for the price. The compressor is very quiet. There were no weird noises or compressor rattles that I heard. That is a fairly common issue you hear when reading fridge reviews in general. So hopefully, I got a good one. This must-have decent insulation because the sides didn’t get cool to the touch after running it at 32 degrees for 8 hours. I didn’t try freezing anything yet. I started with tap water in a half full gallon jug and a metal container, and the half full plastic milk gallon jug took a while to get cold. But the fridge temp was a pretty consistent 32°F after less than a half hour. On eco mode, I saw it go up as high as 36°F on the display before dropping back down. I checked with an IR gun around the sides which were all reading the same, and the air temp in the middle of the box was also 32°F according to my fridge thermostat that I left inside. So it just takes time to freeze things if they start out warm. I bet if I had cold stuff in it to begin with and was just adding a few warm soda cans, they would cool down quicker. And 15 liters is a good size for short camping trips. It is light and easy to carry, and I can refill it with drinks and let them cool so I don’t need a huge heavy cooler. I used to have a Dometic CF40, and it was too bulky for me. I will update this review if I have any problems or have any major updates. Looks like a good product at a great price.
